Joe Smith is a Georgia-based preservation architect and educator. He is a member of the AIA Historic Resources Committee Advisory Group which coordinates the activities of the 9,000-member Historic Resources Committee of the national AIA organization. He will chair the Advisory Group in 2027.
Joe received his BA in Design from Duke University and his Master of Architecture degree from the Yale School of Architecture. He is a co-founder of Architectural Collaborative (Arcollab), based in Athens, Georgia. With over 25 years in practice, Joe’s practice places special emphasis on the rehabilitation of vernacular and utilitarian resources associated with under-represented communities.
