Licensed as both an architect and professional engineer, Lori Ferriss has a personal mission to break down silos between disciplines and across the building sector to leverage the built environment toward a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future.
Lori co-developed the CARE Tool, which estimates the carbon benefits of reusing and retrofitting buildings. Lori’s research in establishing carbon accounting methods and standards of practice for existing and historic buildings has been featured in the Journal of Architectural Conservation, Architect Magazine and at the UN COP27 climate conference.
In 2022, Lori received the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Young Architects Award. She also chairs the AIA Committee on the Environment, serves on the steering committee of the Climate Heritage Network, and is a co-founder of the Northeast Hub of the Carbon Leadership Forum and the Zero Net Carbon Collaboration for Existing and Historic Buildings.
