A Human who unequivocally believes in developing positive outcomes, Towanda is the epitome of creating grassroots organizations with engagement that leads to advocacy, leadership opportunities, and impact. She focuses on driving education, economic development, and cultural collaborations to empower individuals to actively participate in shaping their own communities.

Towanda is responsible for establishing best practice principles in global compliance at Signet Jewelers. She oversees communication and remediation of compliance issues across multiple countries. A US Army veteran who believes this is the best community one can belong to, she sows seeds deep by assisting fellow veterans experiencing homeless. She established and co-chaired the Veterans Business Resource Group at Signet. She initiated the annual July curbside donation drive for our area homeless veterans, now recognized as the largest essential donation drive in the community. She serves on the Signet Love Inspires (SLI) Foundation grant review Board to create a more equitable and sustainable world for underserved women and children.

She believed in the Sojourner Truth Legacy Plaza and led a talented committee from 2019-2024 to make it a reality. The Sojourner Truth Legacy Plaza unveiling was held on May 29, 2024, as the Truth is Powerful and Prevails. She secured the 1st Sojourner Truth collaboration scholarship within the community with The Akron Press Club and the Sojourner Truth Education Committee. She created a $5,000 scholarship for high school students who major in journalism, communications, public relations and marketing. The inaugural scholarship recipient, Demetrion Duvall Top 10 scholar, was awarded $5,000 on April 26, 2024.

Towanda believes in mentoring the next generation of students at the University of Akron, her alma mater, serving as President of the Black Leadership Alumni Council. Her focus while serving is BLAC Scholarships for scholars at U of Akron and to construct a Divine 9 Plaza that will grant a safe space and place of empowerment to the NPHC scholars matriculating at U of A. Both will leave a legacy of service for students for a lifetime.

Towanda founded the United Baptist Scholarship at her place of worship 13 years ago and has been awarding community youth scholarships annually ranging from $500-$2,000 dollars. In 2024 there were “7” scholastic awards distributed.
She serves on the Summit County Historical Society Board along with peers who want to preserve history and educate regional communities about the people and events that have shaped our rich history.
