How do you tell the story of a place that is no longer there? How do you make that history visible again? This session will share the process for creating a new commemorative site dedicated to activist and leader Sojourner Truth in Akron, Ohio on the site of her iconic 1851 speech. Community-led, the project is a result of collaboration and partnerships that made it a reality to tell the story of Truth’s life and connect it to the present.
