Michelle Lynn Diedriech is a Historian at the National Register of Historic Places, National Park Service. Since joining the NPS in 2022, she reviews nominations to the National Register primarily from Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana. Additionally, Michelle assists in developing National Register guidance and supports other programs such as preservation assistance grants.
Prior to her current position, Michelle worked at the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office for 15 years, initially as Survey Coordinator and then as the National Register and Survey Section Chief. She provided guidance to nomination proponents, serving as the primary author of the Missouri Guide to the National Register Process manual. She also assisted other units such as Section 106, Preservation Tax Credit, and Certified Local Government programs.
Michelle holds a MA in Museum and Heritage Studies from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and an MA in Roman Archaeology from the University of Nottingham, UK. She earned her BA at Westminster College in Fulton, MO.
