Speaker Bio
Scott Maenpaa, project manager at The Architectural Team (TAT), has over 18 years of award-winning design experience. He is an exemplary practitioner of historic preservation and adaptive reuse, with a diverse portfolio encompassing various sectors, including multifamily, senior living, and mixed-use. Scott’s passion for preserving the nation’s architectural heritage is reflected in his approach to rehabilitation, which is to preserve a building’s utility for a new use after its original purpose is considered obsolete. Scott is responsible for many of the firm’s iconic redevelopments, including The Central Building, a historic office building transformed into a mixed-use hub. He also led the adaptive reuse of Yarn Works, a century-old mill building redesigned into 96 units, and the Worcester Boys Trade School adaptation into 84 units known as Voke Lofts. Recognized as a valuable resource on historic adaptive approaches, he has led presentations for Preservation Massachusetts and FIABCI-USA, and his work has been featured in Fast Company, Slate, and Multi-Housing News.
