Speaker Bio
Daniela is a small-scale rebuilder, professor of Sustainable Real Estate Development at Tulane University's School of Architecture and co-founder of fintech business Reimagine Development Partners.
Her work and research are focused on the intersection of disaster recovery, adaptive reuse, investment and education. Specifically, Daniela's goal is to make historic tax credits and other government incentives available to anyone who wants to invest in or undertake a historic reconstruction project. In addition, she often uses her own projects to train and mentor her students and employees around sustainable practices in construction and developing resilient communities.
Daniela’s career began in El Alto, Bolivia, addressing quality of life issues in marginalized Aymara communities. She moved to the U.S. in 2006 and spent over a decade in the post-Katrina New Orleans recovery as part of the nonprofit Rebuilding Together, reconstructing over one thousand homes for vulnerable, displaced families. She later joined the Louisiana Land Trust’s executive team to coordinate the statewide disposition of fourteen thousand Katrina-damaged residences.
Daniela decided to go back to school in pursuit of an Economics PhD at Tulane University, which sparked her interest in academic work, research and teaching.
Daniela and co-founder Will Bradshaw partnered up in early 2022 to create Reimagine Development Partners to work on practical, tech-enabled solutions to the barriers often found in historic redevelopment projects.
