Description

New Orleans' historic sacred places provide a window into history. Tour three sites highlighting the challenges and importance of preserving these types of resources: St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church, Touro Synagogue, and Historic St. James AME Church.

Join staff from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Partners for Sacred Places, and the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, and learn about grant opportunities available through the National Fund for Sacred Places and Preserving Black Churches.

Participants travel by bus for a portion of the Field Study; however, some brief walking will be required. Please dress appropriately with comfortable shoes and rain gear as appropriate. Water will be provided if you forget your water bottle.
