This workshop provides an introduction to the human dimension of climate adaptation with a special focus on migration and relocation within the United States and how relocation issues vary by region according to level of risk, economics, demographics, and culture.

The workshop is designed for audiences coming from a cultural or historic perspective and is intended to prepare them to participate in the community resilience conversation with policy makers, planners, and adaptation professionals in addition to community members. It offers an introduction to the issues, jargon and resources related to migration and relocation within the United States.

The session includes reasons why culture and historic preservation need to be included in planning and covers migration issues including different types of migration and is relevant for those in vulnerable, receiving or destination communities.
